Despite that fact that dentists have been working with the current NHS contracting arrangements in England for well over a decade, there still remains confusion, obfuscation and complete misunderstanding  about key elements of the contract.  This has led to clawback from commissioners when practices claim inappropriately or incorrectly or worse still, dentists find themselves facing allegations of dishonesty by the GDC when they mislead patients about the availability of NHS treatment when offering private treatment to NHS patients. This article , written with my good friend Raj Rattan, tries to clear the fog around some of these issues.
